Typically, I’m a big fan of Luna Bars, which are marketed primarily as a protein bar (net wt. 1.69 oz.). My favorite is Nutz Over Chocolate, which tastes like a chocolate covered peanut bar. At 9 grams/serving, it is pretty high in protein, but comes in at over 200 calories per bar (210 to be exact) and accounts for about 9% of your daily carbohydrate intake. Comparatively, the Double Chocolate Brownie BossaBars are 150 calories per bar (net wt. 1.34 oz), and while they actually have less protein at 6 grams/serving, they’re a significant source of dietary fiber at 9 grams/bar (or 32% of the suggested daily intake) and include nutrient-rich ingredients, like flax seed, maca, and MCT oil that have been used to mitigate perimenopause-related symptoms. And if you’re like me, and sometimes have a tough time getting in your five daily servings of veggies, each BossaBar includes ½ serving of vegetables.
Taste-wise, they’re not as sweet as Luna Bars and have more of a sweet/savory thing going on. While the bars are chock-full of plant-based goodies, the prominent flavors are dark chocolate and sea salt. And because they’re so fiber-rich, they leave you feeling satisfied and are great option for knocking of those snackish pangs.
